Erin Buchanan began her career as a special education teacher in Frederick County Public Schools in 2012 after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education from Hood College. Over 13 years in public education, she was recognized as Special Educator and Teacher of the Year at elementary schools across Frederick County. She has supported students across a wide range of communication access needs, drawing on strategies that span picture symbols, phonics-based approaches, and advanced AAC technologies. She holds certification in Orton-Gillingham and applies that training in phonological awareness and phonics instruction with learners of varied ages and abilities.

Erin serves as Program Director and Communication Teacher at Reach Every Voice, where she leads programming and works directly with students building communication access. As a course instructor at Communication for Education, she brings that combined classroom and leadership experience to training communication partners. She is currently completing a Master's degree in Education at Hood College.

Her instructional approach rests on a simple conviction: every learner has a voice that deserves to be heard, and with the right tools and support, all students can communicate, connect, and thrive. She tailors each learning experience using multisensory strategies aligned with her students' individual strengths and interests, meeting communication barriers with creativity, patience, and evidence-based support.
